* Ways to Read*Students are encouraged to read any of the following six ways:
1. Independently
2. With a parent
3. Shared: children join in reading repetitive sentences, predictable language, or special phrases
4. Paired: is when the child and adult take turns reading the text three times and ask questions about the text
5. Choral: is when the parent and child read the text out loud together
6. Echo reading: is when the parent reads a paragraph from the text and the child im
itates the parent's fluent reading

RUNNERS Reading Strategy
Students can use the acronym RUNNERS to help them with reading passages..
Read the title and any italics at the top. predict what you think the selection is about.
Underline the important words in the questions as you read them.
Number the paragraphs.
Now read the selection, and as you read..
Enclose important words that can help you find answers.
Re-read the questions; go back and highlight where you found the answers/clues in the slections.
Select the very best answer.
